Tim Merlier secures the podium in the first stage of the Paris-Nice competition

Soudal-Quick Step cyclists took the three places on the podium

Between March 5th and 12th, the Paris-Nice competition is taking place in La Verriere, France, and Tim Merlier won the first phase of the matches. A few seconds after the cyclist’s success, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard took second and third place in this stage.

“I’m having a fantastic start to the season, it’s great for me and my team,” said Tim Merlier in reference to the win. The cyclist recently signed with Soudal-Quick Step and started his season at the Tour of Oman, in which he also won triumphs.

Tadej Pogacar also commented on the competition: “We went after the bonus sprint. We got the gap but we were just two guys working it was enough and a headwind too, so it was obvious it was going to be a sprint. I saw it. I waited in the group and safely at the finish line”.
