Inter Miami spares Messi, and draws in classic against Orlando City in MLS

For the second match in a row without Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba, and also without Busquets three days before the US Cup final, Inter Miami stumbled again in MLS, having drawn (1-1) in a classic against Orlando City, second placed of the East conference, last night.

The team led by Tata Martino took the lead through David Ruíz, but McGuire equalized for Olando City. With the result, Inter Miami is second to last, with 32 points, and lost the opportunity to move up the table. Orlando is in second place, with 51 points, ten less than leader Cincinnati.

The goals of the game only came in the second half, with the visitors scoring first. In the seventh minute, Inter Miami recovered the ball in the attacking field and David Ruiz took advantage of the space in the small area to push the ball into the back of the net.

However, Orlando City did not lose heart after the goal conceded and managed to get around with the support of their fans to seek a draw in the 20th minute of the final stage.

After a good exchange of passes due to experience, McGuire received a pass on the left side of the area and finished low, under goalkeeper Callender to leave everything tied. The final stretch of the game was very balanced and both times there were chances to win, but they ended up in the opponent’s defenses.

Now, Inter Miami returns to the field on Wednesday, when they face Houston Dynamo, at Lockhart Stadium, in the grand final of the United States Cup and most likely with the return of Messi and co. On the other hand, Orlando City plays next Saturday, against Montrèal, at Orlando City Stadium, in the 31st round of MLS.
