On social media, Napoli posts a video mocking Osimhen and his manager promises to sue the club

Current Italian champions, Napoli are not going through their best form this season and, to make matters worse, the team now finds themselves in trouble with one of their best players, striker Victor Osimhen.

This is because, after publicly arguing with coach Rudi Garcia in the last game, Osimhen saw Napoli’s official TikTok account post an ironic video with the number 9. The publication was deleted after the bad repercussions, but the striker’s agent threatened to take legal actions against the club.

The video has a derogatory edit of Osimhen demanding the penalty against Bologna last Sunday. The penalty was given, the Nigerian went to take it, but ended up sending it out. Napoli drew 0-0 and are seventh in the Italian league, with eight points – Inter leads, with 15.

As a result, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, released a statement on the social network “X”, formerly known as “Twitter”, saying that the video caused “very serious damage to the player”.

“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” Calenda said.

“We reserve the right to take legal action and any other useful initiative to protect Victor.” Furthermore, Osimhen removed most of the photos he had with the Napoli shirt on his Instagram profile.

Napoli’s top scorer in last season’s Italian title campaign, with 26 goals, Osimhen was highly sought after by European giants in the last transfer window, but was retained by the team.

He has a contract until 2025 and was discussing renewal. The episode with the ironic video, which could lead to a lawsuit by the Nigerian against the club, should also halt contract renewal negotiations.
