Rebeca Andrade wants to represent “all incredible women” with new solo

To the sound of Beyoncé and Anitta’s hits, Rebeca Andrade shone this Friday when she presented her new solo during the podium training at the Antwerp World Cup, a crucial rehearsal for artistic gymnastics. Just like the popularity of “Baile de Favela”, the choreography highlights the engaging rhythm of funk and gained enormous repercussion on social media. The Olympic and world champion shared behind the scenes of the process of creating this performance, highlighting the importance she attributed to female representation when performing to the sound of two international pop divas.

“After ‘Baile de Favela’, we started thinking about what would be the ideal song for my solo. It was an extensive process, involving several creative minds. I established some guidelines: representation, praise of women and, of course, something that touched me and allowed me to transmit my energy to everyone. I hope everyone appreciates it. It’s a tribute to Brazil, the world and all the incredible women”, declared Rebeca.

Rebeca Andrade’s musical composition for her new solo begins with Beyoncé’s hit “End of Time”. However, most of the choreography is, once again, rocked by the contagious rhythm of funk, to the sound of “Movimento da Sanfoninha” by Anitta (Rafael Castilho and DJ Pimpa). “Baile de Favela” is also incorporated, a tribute to the song that enchanted everyone during the Tokyo Olympic Games.

“I chose three songs that are part of my life and my daily life, those that we listen to daily. My team understood that the series needed to reflect a lot of who I am. Anyone who follows me knows that I love dancing. This way, I was able to express my passion and make part of this process. From the conception of the music to the choreography, I thought about every pose and movement, and the team was fully committed to providing the best,” shared the Olympic champion.
