La Liga has opened an investigation into an alleged offensive comment made by Jude Bellingham against Mason Greenwood, in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Getafe.

Videos of the match broadcast emerged on social media and show an incident between the two English players during the game at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

With that, Bellingham would have called Greenwood a “rapist”. It is worth remembering that the former Manchester United player was accused of sexual violence and attempted rape in January 2022.

Just over a year later, he had the charges dropped and, in September 2023, he was signed on loan by Getafe .

To The Athletic portal, La Liga indicated that Getafe made a formal complaint about the alleged incident. The entity hired a lip reading specialist to analyze the images.

“Getafe yesterday transferred the complaint to La Liga’s gaming director and La Liga, as it always does on such occasions, requested an expert report on lip reading to investigate the matter and act on the basis of what can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt ( via lip reader)” the league informed The Athletic.

Greenwood remained away from Manchester United during investigations into his allegations. He denies all alleged crimes. The player has a contract with the English team until mid-2025, and the loan to Getafe runs until the end of the current season.
