Rockwall-Heath High School football coach John Harrell has been suspended for requiring students to perform about 400 push-ups during off-season practices. The students could not stand the teacher’s request, suffering some consequences, and were taken to the hospital.

To look into the situation, the school hired a supervisor to look into what might have happened during the day. However, the case only gained repercussions in the school management after three days of the incident, leaving the parents of the students worried. In a letter sent to guardians, the college asked them to take notice if they showed symptoms such as an inability to bend or extend their arms, sharp pain in the arm and dark urine.

The case gained attention when one of the parents of the students, went to one of the newspapers like Fox 4, to tell that their son was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a muscle disorder induced by stress that can damage cells and cause kidney damage or even failure in serious situations.
