Michigan football coordinator charged with cybercrime

For the second time, the University is involved in yet another controversy

According to ESPN, Schembechler Hall College Football Coordinator Matt Weiss was charged by the Michigan Police Department with committing cyber crimes last December at the team’s football facilities. Due to the investigation, the coach was removed from his duties.

University of Michigan Police Deputy Chief Crystal James did not specify in the statement further details about the Matt Weiss investigation, “The University of Michigan Police Department is investigating a report of computer access crimes that occurred in Schembechler Hall. from 21 to 23 December 2022”.

Upon learning of the investigation Matt Weiss said he would cooperate with the investigation: “I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan Police Department and fully cooperating with investigators. I look forward to the matter being resolved. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will have no further comment”.
