Former Bayern Munich, the 36-year-old German coach signed a contract until the end of July 2024 and will be responsible for guiding the team in next year’s European Championship, hosted in their country. He took over from Hansi Flick, who was fired due to poor results.

“We have a Euro Cup in our country. This is something special, that happens every few decades. I subordinate everything to the fact of having a great tournament in a great country. I really want to take on this challenge. Participation in Dortmund was just the beginning. We will be a very united group next year,” said Nagelsmann.

As a result, the first games of the “Nagelsmann era” will take place in October, in two friendlies in the United States. The team faces the American team on the 14th, in Hartford, and faces Mexico, on the 17th, in Philadelphia.

A friendly match with Austria is also scheduled for November 21st, in Vienna. It is worth remembering that Nagelsmann had been out of work for six months when he was fired as coach of Bayern Munich.

He remained under contract with the Bavarian club and through mutual agreement was released to take over the Germany national team. The German coach also has spells at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig on his resume.
