Onana takes responsibility for mistake in Manchester United’s defeat: “We lost because of me”

“It’s difficult to lose like that. We started very well and, after my mistake, we lost control of the game. It’s a difficult situation for us, especially for me, because I was the one who was disappointed”.

“The team did very well, but I think because of me we didn’t win this game. We have to move on. It’s the goalkeeper’s life. If we didn’t win today, it was because of me”, said Onana, in an interview with the channel CBS.

Onana gave the interview to former Manchester United goalkeeper and idol, Schmeichel, one of the CBS commentators.

“It’s not an easy situation. But it’s time to accept responsibility for everything. We are men. We have to analyze the situation, work hard and keep believing because we are Manchester United and we have to do our best”, concluded Onana.

Now, Manchester United has suffered its third consecutive defeat. Erik ten Hag’s team visits Burnley on Saturday, in the Premier League, and then hosts Galatasaray in the next round of the Champions League, on October 3rd.
