David Beckham announces documentary about his professional career

Last Wednesday (20), through social media, David Beckham released the new documentary series “Beckham”, produced by Netflix, which will report on the player’s professional career and personal life. Divided into four 60-minute episodes, the work will premiere on October 4th.

During the series’ trailer, the player explains how much his rise in professional sport and popularity affected his mental health and his family life with Victoria Beckham, the athlete’s current wife. Throughout the production, David Beckham also talks about the beginning of his relationship with the singer.

Furthermore, in the work created by director Fisher Stevens, the athlete explains how his argument with Alex Ferguson, in 2003, Manchester United coach, affected him. “I wasn’t eating, I wasn’t sleeping, it cost me a lot because I didn’t even know anything. We were drowning,” he said.

Providing a more intimate narrative that allows the viewer a different view of David Beckham, the documentary series will feature the presence of Victoria Beckham and her children Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, who will also comment on the player’s trajectory, and will address compulsion by cleaning developed by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), since the 2000s.

Previously, before starting production in 2020, the film was revealed and publicized for the first time by “The Sun” newspaper and only last year it was confirmed by “The Hollywood Reporter”. The documentary features a team of great audiovisual professionals and producers.
