Toto Wolf, Mercedes team principal, said in a statement that their partnership with Lewis is one of the most successful in the history of the sport. “It was always a formality that we would continue together — and it’s energizing for us all to be confirming that publicly. His qualities as a pure racing driver are illustrated by his remarkable track record; but over our years together, he has grown to become a pillar and leader of our team.”

Hamilton is the winningest driver in Formula 1 history. With Mercedes, he has won six of his seven driver’s championships, and eight constructor’s championships. It has 82 victories, 144 podiums and 77 pole positions together.

It has been a winning partnership of 10 years between the seven-time champion and the team, and could break the record of 11 seasons held by Michael Schumacher and Ferrari.

George Russel, the second driver, also stays in the team. He was already under contract until 2024, but he increased through 2025. Russel’s only win with the team was in the last season, when he won in Brazil. Currently he is sixth in the standings, with only one podium finish in 2023. This is his second season with Mercedes, after moving from Williams Racing, replacing Valtteri Bottas.
