Saudi Arabia wants Messi on loan for six months

According to the newspaper Sport, Saudi Arabia has shown interest in a loan for Lionel Messi for a period of six months. The Argentine player is currently under contract with Inter Miami until 2025. However, due to the team’s failure to qualify for the Major League Soccer playoffs, Messi will be out of action for four months.

An article published this Monday (9) by the newspaper states that the North American club is willing to respect  Messi’s wishes and is open to negotiations. Jorge Mas, one of the presidents of Inter Miami, stated in an interview with Club del Deportista that he will do everything possible so that Messi has the opportunity to say goodbye to Barcelona.

However, the daily Sport reports that the Spanish club insists that it cannot register the player due to problems related to fair play, in addition to prioritizing the registration of Gavi and the incorporation of Brazilian Vitor Roque. The publication also mentions that Messi, at the moment, is not considering a return to Barcelona. According to Sport, Saudi Arabia has intervened and is seeking a six-month loan from the Argentine. 

Messi joined Inter Miami in June this year and participated in 13 games, scoring 11 goals, providing five assists and winning the Leagues Cup title wearing David Beckham’s club shirt. The start of the next season is scheduled for the end of February 2024.
