Kathryn Mayorga returns to court seeking to reopen the case against Cristiano Ronaldo

This Wednesday, October 4, Cristiano Ronaldo’s lawyers are scheduled to appear in court in the context of the player’s legal dispute with Kathryn Mayorga, the woman who accused him of trying to force her to have sexual relations against her will. The case reportedly took place in a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.

In 2010, the renowned athlete reportedly paid around US$375,000 to Kathryn to remain anonymous about the incident. According to Sky News, it is exactly this amount that is now in question.

It is worth mentioning that the controversy came to light in 2018, when Kathryn chose to proceed with the process in a court in the state of Nevada, United States. However, the case was dismissed in June last year by Judge Jennifer Dorsey, who found there to be mismanagement of the case and use of stolen confidential documents.

Today, Mayorga’s defense team will return to the court system in an attempt to overturn the dismissal of the case and thus seek new financial compensation in the order of millions of dollars. They argue that the judge should have taken into account the confidentiality agreement signed by Mayorga and CR7 in 2010, which proves Ronaldo’s payment. It is worth remembering that last year, Cristiano Ronaldo received compensation of more than US$314 thousand from Kathryn’s lawyer, accused of misconduct in the process.
