After a disappointing Saturday (7), in which she won silver in the vault and finished fifth on the uneven bars, Simone recovered to win on the beam and floor. In the floor routine, she was penalized for leaving the floor area, but the high difficulty of her performance meant that she finished in first place.

In her beam routine, she met all the judges’ requirements and performed to perfection to win first place. The other two gold medals were won by her in the individual event and in the team event with Team USA.
Simone has won 30 medals in her career, 23 gold, four silver and three bronze at the world championships, and 37 medals in total, both at the Olympic Games and the world championships.
This is her first international competition since her two-year break from the sport. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Biles experienced what she calls “twisties”, and pulled out of the team competition and the individual all-around. “Twisties” is a mental block causing a gymnast to lose track of their position in midair.
