Bianca Bustamante is the first woman to participate in the F1 Academy

Last Wednesday (18), through social media and official websites, McLaren announced that Bianca Bustamante is the first woman to join the Formula 1 Academy team with ART Grand Pix, for next year. In addition to participating in the races, she will also be involved in developing the team representing the company.

“This is such an unreal moment in my career, signing with McLaren and ART is so far beyond anything I could have imagined growing up racing karts in the Philippines. I am moved because the history and heritage linked to this team truly leave me speechless”, said Bianca Bustamante.

The new driver continued to explain about the announcement and perspectives on her future: “I am very grateful for this opportunity, as I believe that I now have the best development structure around me to take the next step in my career, and for that reason I am very grateful”.

Bianca Bustamante began her career in sport at the age of five through karting and after obtaining several victories on the Asian continent, Australia and the United States, in 2021 she was called to participate in the International Automobile Federation (FIA) program Girls On Track – Rising Stars.

After being called up, the Filipina went on to the final season of the W Series last year, placing 15th in the competition. This year, Bianca Bustamante dedicated herself even more to the sport and came ninth in the F4 in the United Arab Emirates.
