“I didn’t expect it. It was unfair”, said the coach, who also played the role of sports director, to the Spanish television station Cadena Ser, hours after being removed from the position of coach by the Federation, which now has Pedro Rocha as president. , due to the ‘Rubiales’ scandal.

“I’m as good as you can be after being world champion 16 days ago, having renewed your contract 10 days ago for another four years with a higher salary, and today [Tuesday] being unfairly fired”, said Jorge Vilda, revealing that in the meeting with Pedro Rocha he was told that the decision was taken due to “structural changes”.
And he added: “After 17 years in women’s football, after everything I’ve achieved, and after leaving the skin as a worker for the federation, I have a clear conscience. I gave everything.”

The former coach also confessed that he “did not expect” this outcome, and that he maintained the “illusion and hope” of being treated well, as he had always been so far.
“I saw myself strong enough to compete in the League of Nations and the Olympic Games”, he added, then explaining the applause he gave to Luis Rubiales’ speech at the General Assembly of the Spanish Federation on August 25, in which Rubiales said he was not would resign as president of the organization.
