“Normally yes, I stay at Soudal-QuickStep. I have a contract until the 26th, so there’s this respect thing. A contract is a contract, you can’t just say ‘ah, see you later… bye bye’. That’s not how it works. And the world of cycling is not the world of football where you can give 200 million and get a player or a rider”, said Remco Evenepoel.

The athlete stated that for Soudal-Quick Step to be able to reach new competitions and guarantee the podium in those they already participate in, it is necessary to make some modifications such as hiring competitors who are more focused on the Grand Tour and investing in methods that help with well-being. of cyclists.

“If we can improve a lot of things, science, nutrition, just things around the Grand Tour team, I think we can quickly be on par with the UAE and Jumbo-Visma. We have a lot of knowledge in the team, especially us pilots. We know a lot about how the others work because there are almost no secrets in the group”, said the athlete.

Rumors that Remco Evenepoel could leave his team arose from a comment made by his father, who is his agent, reporting that he was analyzing new proposed agreements. However, upon learning the information, Patrick Lefevere, general manager of Soudal-QuickStep, did not like the idea and stated that if there was a breach of contract, the cyclist would be prosecuted.
