Inter Milan beats Genoa and opens up a 15-point lead at the top

Asllani opened the scoring in the 29th minute of the first half, with a strong shot after a pass from Alexis Sánchez. The Chilean striker scored Internazionale’s second goal, at 37, from a penalty kick. Defender Johan Vázquez scored Genoa’s goal at the beginning of the second half.

The visiting team put pressure on the home team in an almost unprecedented way, at the San Siro, this season. Grifone just didn’t create something very effective due to Inter’s defensive merit – which was changing so that the game would end quickly.

Amid the problems of the final stage, the blue and black fans had something good to celebrate: the return of striker Marcus Thuram, still gaining minutes after his injury. The Frenchman’s presence alongside Lautaro in attack will be essential for the club in the Champions League.

With this, Inter Milan achieved their 12th consecutive victory of the season. There are 14 unbeaten games since December 23rd of last year. Simone Inzaghi’s team extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 15 points.
