Collector breaks artwork by Jeff Koons valued at $42,000

The artwork “Balloon Dog”, by artist Jeff Koons, made in the shape of blue balloons, was destroyed by a collector during a visit at the Art Wynwood exhibition in Miami.  The accident occurred last Thursday (16) and the work is valued at $42,000.

People who visited the exhibition thought that the falling object was part of a performance.  The collector who caused the accident, according to witnesses, remained extremely embarrassed and constantly repeated that she just wanted to “disappear” and that it was not on purpose.

The art consultant for the Bel-Air Fine Art galleries, Bénédicte Caluch, said that the damage will be fully covered by insurance. Cédric Boero who works at the Bel-Air Fine Arts Galleries said that everyone was scared, but in the end everything was resolved.
