“I left home at 11 to live in Eindhoven with a host family. It gave me a lot of maturity. I had to cycle 10 km to the station at 7 am, then 20 minutes by train and then the bus to go to school. In Holland, I really became more mature”, said the cyclist.

Remco Evenepoel said that football helped him to have a centered mind and maturity to face life’s challenges. The cyclist also stressed that the disappointment he had with his former team RSC Anderlecht helped him when he suffered an accident at the Giro de Lombardy in 2020.

“My body has benefited a lot from football today. For example, for stability. I developed abdominal muscles, which help me maintain my position”, said Remco Evenepoel.
