This Thursday (23), John Motson passed away at his home at the age of 77. In an official statement, the family did not specify the cause of the incident, but justified that the commentator “died peacefully while sleeping.” The journalist was known to be the voice of the BBC and to have narrated the biggest moments of football over 50 years.

âJohn Motson was the voice of a generation of football. Like all the big ones behind the microphone, John had the right words at the right time for all the great times, âsaid Tim Davie, general director of the BBC. In solidarity, several colleagues provided condolences to the family.

John Motson began his career at BBC in 1968 and years later shone on the âMatch of the Dayâ show, when he experienced historical moments in the world and football as the tragedy of Hillsborough Stadium in 1989, plus 10 European championships, 10 World Cups, 10 European Cup and more than 200 games in England.
