“Ups and downs are part of our job and I can accept that. What’s hard to take are all the false and negative comments I received after leaving the race”, said the cyclist.

The athlete questioned his followers and asked them to look at it with a more human tone: “I just want to ask everyone to remember that I am not a robot, but also a normal human being, husband, son, teammate, etc., with normal feelings. After today’s check ups and medicals, I’ve been given the green light to start training again”.

Remco Evenepoel ended the publication stating that in professional sport there are some obstacles: “Definitely one of the most difficult setbacks of my still short career. A very brutal ending to what could have been a beautiful story. 6 months of thorough preparation just for this race. Sacrifices, long rainy days, long periods outside. Everything was as planned, but that’s the way the sport is”.
