The athlete's father stated that there was a possibility of changes

Last Monday (07), through an official statement, Remco Evenepoel countered and denied the rumors that affirmed his departure from Soudal-Quick Step. The information reports that the cyclist had the objective of transferring to Ineos Grenadiers.

Further increasing the rumors about the change, Patrick Evenepoel, the athlete’s father, said in an interview with “La Dernière Heure”, that he had been in contact with other teams and that Remco Evenepoel’s stay at Soudal-Quick Step could not be confirmed. for the coming seasons.

The comments made by Patrick Evenepoel generated a not so pleasant response from Patrick Lefevere, director of Soudal-Quick Step, who was asked by the local press about the cyclist’s permanence in the team. In response, he claimed that if they are unable to resolve amicably, there may be problems in court.

Remco Evenepoel clarified that he will remain in his current team until the contract expires: “Personally, I think everyone should be silent. They should just let me do it. I know better what can and cannot be done. Both my dad and Patrick would be better off if they kept quiet.”

If the rumors become real, as the cyclist’s contract ends at the end of 2026, Remco Evenepoel would have to terminate the agreement and consequently pay a fine to the team. However, as the athlete has several sponsors, the action would harm his career.

“Last week Remco said the ‘bullshit’ has to stop. Almost a week later his father says otherwise. The Evenepoel family must harmonize violins. Our team is taking action in all areas. The consequences of a possible departure are incalculable, for him and for us. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. If you do not respect the contract, you will be prosecuted. It would also be a disaster for our sponsors,” said Patrick Lefevere, managing director of Soudal-Quick Step, when asked by Sporza magazine.
