Jumbo-Visma makes history and guarantees the Vuelta a Espana podium

Last Sunday (17), through social networks and official websites, Jumbo-Visma achieved a milestone in professional sport and achieved three podium positions in the general classification of the Vuelta a Espana. Sepp Kuss remained in first place, Jonas Vingegaard in second and Primoz Roglic in third.

In addition to being a milestone in the competition, the victory is a historic record for the team for having won the first three Grand Tours, consisting of the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, in a single season. Before the title, only the Spanish team KAS had accomplished this feat in 1966.

Sepp Kuss also became the first American to win the competition after many years, which was considered by the cyclist to be one of the biggest dreams in his career. “When I woke up I thought I was dreaming, it will take me a long time to get used to it. I don’t know if today is the happiest day of my career, because Grand Tour success is something that is built over multiple stages, but it is certainly one of them”, said the athlete.

Amid controversy over accusations of possible doping, which were recently reported by the media, Jonas Vingegaard defended his team, explaining that all of his teammates’ victories were due to the performance, training, nutrition and care provided by the team.

“We certainly understand the skepticism, but people should know how much we sacrifice for everything, how much we go into the details. Especially on this team, we basically do everything perfect and that makes a big difference. I don’t think people realize how much of a difference it really makes,” concluded Jonas Vingegaard.
