José Mourinho could swap Italian football for Saudi Arabia. This is because, according to information from the Italian newspaper “Il Messaggero”, an unidentified Saudi club will offer 120 million euros to the current Roma coach for a two-season contract.
With this, the Portuguese coach would transfer in the middle of 2024, when his contract with the Giallorossi would have ended. The non-renewal was also reported by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, specialized in the transfer market.
It’s worth remembering that at the beginning of October, Mourinho stated that he had turned down “the craziest offer in the history of football”.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in the transfer market, Al Hilal, which has Neymar in its squad, made a proposal of 30 million euros (R$160 million) per year to the coach in June. After the refusal, the Saudi club opted to hire Jorge Jesus.
Namely, last Monday, the CEO of the Saudi League, Carlo Nohra, expressed an interest in bringing Mourinho to Saudi Arabia and declared that he was “waiting for him”.
Mourinho has been at Roma since July 2021. He led the team to end a 14-year drought without titles, with the victory of the Conference League in 2022, the Giallorossi’s first continental trophy. With the Portuguese coach, the Italian team was also runner-up in the Europa League last season.
