Last Wednesday (25), according to information released by sports journalist Shams Charania, from The Athletic, De’Aaron Fox signed a new contract with his colleague Stephen Curry’s “Under Armour” footwear line. In this way, the American becomes the first player to star in the Golden State Warriors athlete’s campaign.
Previously, at the beginning of his career in professional basketball, De’Aaron Fox signed a five-year contract with Nike and after some modifications, the player was allowed to form new partnerships and establish strategies for the last season.
Unlike companies, the beginning of Stephen Curry’s commercial line had not previously selected any athlete to be the star of a major campaign. However, De’Aaron Fox’s evolution, brilliance and revolutionary plays at the Sacramento Kings seemed like the right choice for the deal.
The union between Stephen Curry and Under Armor took place in March, when both announced that the player would assume the role of president of Curry products produced by the company, which will focus on different areas of sport such as golf and basketball, as well as different niches.
“If the last 10 years have shown me anything, it’s that Under Armor and I can build things together. In 2013, we bet on each other and I am committed to taking the next step together”, said the player when announcing a new step in the partnership valued at US$215 million, including an equity stake in the company.
