Chelsea found their way back to winning ways in the Premier League with the help of the old “Ex’s Law”. The London team beat Crystal Palace 3-1, this Monday, away from home, in the 24th round, when midfielder Gallagher scored two goals against his former team. Enzo Fernández scored Chelsea ‘s third, and Lerma found the net for the hosts.
As a result, in yet another irregular season, Chelsea arrived at this Monday’s London duel coming from two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
After qualifying in the FA Cup against Aston Villa, last week, Mauricio Pochettino’s men went behind on the scoreboard, with Lerma scoring in the 30th minute of the first half.
However, Gallagher appeared to be decisive against his former team, to whom he was loaned in 2021/22.
The Englishman tied the game two minutes into the first half – and managed to secure the victory at 46, already in stoppage time. Enzo Fernández scored one more and closed the score.
With this, the victory leaves Chelsea exactly in the middle of the Premier League table, in 10th place, with 34 points – 13 behind the competition’s Top-4. Crystal Palace is 15th, with 24 points, five away from the relegation zone.
