Chris Froome recovers from crash and secures top 10 spot at Tour de France Saitama Criterium

After the accident in 2019, the athlete seeks stability and new challenges

Last Sunday (6th), in Japan, cyclist Chris Froome (Israel – Premier Tech) competed in the popular Tour de France Saitama Criterium, which is part of the Tour de France 2022, and managed to establish his place on the podium by taking seventh position in the competition. The first positions went to the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Deceuninck), the Danish Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) and the British Geraint Thomas (Ines Grenadiers).

After the serious accident during the preparation for the Tour de France in 2019 and which left the rider injured in several parts of the body, Chris Froome has been resuming his strategies and striving to guarantee the first places of the next competitions as the third place position that reached on the 12th stage of the Tour de France, at the Alpe d’Huerz, in July this year.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper MARCA, the athlete reinforces that this year is essential to have stability, “this was the first year without problems due to this accident. From the recovery until now it was like I was a neo-professional. I want simple challenges with a lot of trouble-free time and a stage win.”
