Cees Bol wants to lead Mark Cavendish to his 35th Tour de France victory

Cyclists are working as a team for upcoming races

Last week, Cees Bol signed for Astana-Qazaqstan around the same time Mark Cavendish joined the team. As responsible for training the races they will face throughout the year, the cyclist communicated that he wants to lead his colleague to win the 35th stage of the next Tour de France, still in 2023.

“I think it’s one of the most unique goals in cycling to try and break a record like that. Of course, that’s the big goal, but it’s also super exciting to race with Cav and try to get a win in any race”.

The cyclist also reinforced that he does not know very well why Alexandr Vinokourov, manager of Astana, chose him for this victory. “I don’t know if Mark chose me, in the end Vino chose me, but I think we can be a good pair in the races, I’m quite tall so he’ll have some whirlwinds to come”.

The athlete also spoke about the period in which he was without a team, after the project with B&B Hotels ended: “It was frustrating, but I always knew that I would find a good team in the end, so I was not too stressed about it. You want to know where your future is and know who you’re going to be working with over the next few years. I was feeling like I hadn’t started yet”.
