Remco Evenepoel prepares to win the Giro d’Italia

After winning first place in the Tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Remco Evenepoel explained that his next goal was to secure first place in the Giro d’Italia, which will take place from May. However, before the main match, the Soudal-QuickStep leader has the Vuelta a Catalunya competition ahead of him.

“It’s my first race of 2023 where I wanted to try and do a good GC, and I haven’t gone to altitude yet, I will in a few days, so I can only get better. I can be very happy and proud with the way I am now and my teammates are doing very well too. So these are just good signs and we have to keep it up”, said the cyclist.

The athlete stated that after these competitions, training for the Giro d’Itália began to be more frequent: “Now we are going to the altitude for the first time and, yes, starting the real specific work towards the Giro. But it feels good to do it with a great result here in the UAE, which is a very important race for us as GC riders, so I can be satisfied and proud”.
