Last Sunday (23), one of the biggest sports competitions in Europe took place, the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, held in Belgium. During the races, Tadej Pogocar collided with Mikkel Honore, from Denmark, and, according to the medical team of the UAE Emirates team, the cyclist had multiple fractures and would have to undergo surgery.
As the fall happened before the competition was shown, sources reported that the cyclist’s fall was big, in the middle of a descent and that he had tried to get back into the race. However, with the severe pain, Tadej Pogocar ended up leaving the competition.
Last Monday (24), the athlete underwent the operation and the medical director of the UAE Emirates team, Dr. Adrian Rotunno, announced that “Tadej Pogocar’s scaphoid surgery was a success and he will return home tomorrow for recovery and rehabilitation”.
“It’s too early to tell. We will probably have more information after the surgery and we will see how it goes. As there are several bones to be recovered, it is a more complicated operation. So we are crossing our fingers that everything will be fine and he can recover very quickly”, said team manager Mauro Gianetti.
