First time: Daniil Medvedev wins championship in Italy

The achievement is part of their fifth title of the season

Last Sunday (21), in Rome, Daniil Medvedev made a historic milestone and won the Italian Open for the first time, winning the trophy before his next tournament, which will take place in France.

“I always want to believe in myself and I always want to win the biggest tournaments in the world. But at the same time, I didn’t think I could win a Masters 1000 on clay in my career because I generally hated playing on it. I didn’t feel well and nothing was working”, says the tennis player.

The athlete claims that when he was competing he was feeling different from other times: “When I got here I felt really good in training and I told my coach ‘I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m feeling amazing’. I am very happy that I did it and that I proved to myself and everyone else that I can do it”.
