Previously, in October 2022, Simona Halep was accused by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) of having used a prohibited substance that was present on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of the US Open that was ready to compete. The measure removed the athlete from the sport provisionally.

Now, again, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) is suspecting that the athlete has committed another doping, however, this time, through the biological passport. That is, Simona Halep would have evidence of other prohibited substances in her blood.

“We understand that today’s announcement adds complexity to an already high profile situation. Since the beginning of this process – and any other ITIA process – we have remained committed to engaging with Ms. Halep in an empathetic, efficient and timely manner,” ITIA Director Nicole Spapstead said in a statement.

Contrary to the statement released by the institution, through a publication, the tennis player claims that she is being accused of harassment and that she consulted three other specialists in order to assess her biological passport to confirm that there was no illicit substance in her blood.
