“I thought it was possible. I always race to win and I think that even though I have a skinsuit disadvantage, I’ve proved that my form is good and that I’m ready for the Tour. I’ve always believed that. There are many emotions”, said the winner of the Tour de Suisse, who has been praised and called the new promise of cycling.

Mattias Skjelmose recounted how the experience of winning helped give him more momentum for the Tour de France next month and paid tribute to Gino Mader, who died after a fall during the competition. “For me, the most important thing was that Gino’s parents and family wanted the race to continue and for us to race normally. It put my mind at ease,” said the athlete.
