Last Tuesday (27), during a press conference at the Tour Grand Départ, in France, Rod Ellingworth, deputy head of Ineos Grenadiers, commented on the indications that the team released regarding the call-ups for the Tour de France 2023. As already announced at the Miami Cycling Show, Tom Pidcock and Egan Bernal would be in the competition.
However, Rod Ellingworth, Deputy Team Principal at Ineos Grenadiers, called Tom Pidcock a great promise for this year’s Tour de France and for professional sport: “He would definitely like to take a step beyond last year’s achievements, say like this. As a rookie last year, winning a stage was a great start. To be honest with you, I think he felt how big the Tour was the first time around and I think it really got him involved and made him think that I would love to be a part of that in the bigger picture”.
“While this is where I feel these guys can’t fail, each step is a learning curve. He’s at that point in his career where, even when he takes a hit, it’s the right moment, reflect on yourself and then move on. I’m sure we’ll see a better Tom Pidcock than we saw in Suisse,” said Rod Ellingworth, Deputy Head of Ineos Grenadiers.
