Claire Steels signs new contract with Movistar

The player will have a three-year contract

Last Tuesday (29), through social networks and official websites, Claire Steels announced that she signed a new three-year contract with Movistar for the next season in professional sport. Previously, in her recent competitions, the cyclist was competing with Premier Tech- Roland.

“It was definitely a rather unexpected journey, but a very, very enjoyable and exhilarating one. I’ve always just focused on trying to be the best athlete I can be, that’s always been my drive, and whatever that means at different stages of my life and disciplines along my sporting journey”, said Claire Steels.

With Annemiek van Vleuten’s declaration of retirement, for the next few years, Movistar will undergo new formulations and transitions in the women’s cycling team. The athlete will have Emma Norsgaard, Liane Lippert and Sarah Gigante as companions.

The athlete, who has shown an excellent performance in her last competitions, praised the new team, stating that she has always appreciated Movistar, how the team coordinates athletes with great potential and that participating in the team has always been one of her biggest dreams.

“I hope I still have a lot to offer. I feel that my cycling journey has just begun and I am confident that surrounded by staff and experienced cyclists I can continue to develop in all areas of myself as an athlete and rider. I am especially looking forward to refining my skills and becoming a more consistent and reliable GC candidate and, above all, getting into the team dynamic, supporting my teammates on and off the bike”.
