Suggesting that Wolff spends too much time talking about Red Bull, the driver said “He almost sounds like he’s an employee of our team sometimes but, no, luckily not”. The Dutch also said that Toto’s comments must be because he was upset about Mercedes performance. “I mean they had a pretty s*** race, so probably he was still p***** off with their performance.”

This comes after Wolff’s comments at the race in Monza a couple of weeks ago (3), when Verstappen became the first driver to win 10 successive Formula 1 races. When asked about the subject, Toto said that it was “completely irrelevant”. “Those numbers are for Wikipedia and nobody reads that anyway”.

Verstappen is very close to win his third consecutive world championship. Wolff won eight successive constructor’s titles between 2014 and 2021, when Mercedes used to be the dominant team. But since the introduction of new design regulations, at season 2022, they have struggled.

In the constructor’s standings Mercedes is second, but with George Russel and Lewis Hamilton performances in Monza, fifth and sixth respectively, Red Bull might seal the title this weekend in the Singapore GP.
