The vacancy went viral after a screenshot of the website advertisement was published on Reddit. The position was for a writer to write news, articles, background stories and race reports.

The requirements for the position were having a journalistic background, being able to work under time pressure, demonstrating knowledge of Formula 1 and having excellent command of Dutch and English.

The controversy was that the announcement stated that the position had no “monetary compensation”. The only reward offered would be a discount and credit in the shop, and also “being welcomed at parties”.

Reddit users commented with sarcasm and jokes. One user said “Hey, you are welcome at their parties though” and another joked “But you have to bring your own beer”. After all the criticism the post on the website was deleted.
