This Friday (29), Manchester United released a statement saying that Lisandro Martinez is expected to be out for two to three months, due to a recurrence of a foot injury.

The Argentinian fractured a metatarsal in April, and missed the end of last season. He even returned at the start of this season, playing against Brighton and Bayern Munich, but now the team say he will be out again because of “an aggravation” to the injury.

“It has now been determined that he needs a period on the sidelines for recovery and rehabilitation. Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps.” said the statement. United also sent him “best wishes” and are looking “forward to him coming back as soon as possible”.
Martinez was transferred from Ajax to Manchester United last year, in a deal worth up to $55m. He helped the team finish third in the Premier League and also win the League Cup.
