Luisa Stefani and Ingrid Martins shine and advance to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Beijing

Luísa Stefani and Ingrid Martins’ week continues with excellent results at the WTA 1000 in Beijing. This is because, playing together for the first time this season, the Brazilians beat German Laura Siegemund and Russian Vera Zvonareva, seeds 8 in China and recent US Open finalists, this Friday (6), by 6/2 and 6/3.

The game lasted just 1h17 minutes, and the result guaranteed a place in the semifinals in the Chinese capital.

Thus, the victory also served as a revenge for Luísa Stefani, who had lost to Siegemund and Zvonareva in the semi-final in New York. Namely, on that occasion, she acted alongside American Jennifer Brady.

The experienced pairing of the 35-year-old German with the 39-year-old Russian has already won the tournaments in Washington and Ningbo in the current season.

To reach the semifinals, Luisa and Ingrid passed Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula in the round of 16. Now, they are preparing to face the Czech Marie Bouzkova and the Spanish Sara Sorribes, this Saturday (7), for a place in the final of the China Open.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, Mexican Giuliana Olmos and Taiwanese Hao-Ching Chan face American Peyton Stearns and Polish Magda Linette, also on Saturday.
