Lizzie Deignan returns to competition

The athlete had taken a career break due to motherhood

After the birth of her son in 2018, Lizzie Deignan announced that she would be taking a break from her career without announcing her return. However, last Monday (22nd), the athlete stated that she will make her return to racing at the Ride London Classique competition, in London, between May 26th and 28th.

“It’s like I was never away from the team. I’ve raced with a lot of girls, but I’ve got some new teammates and that’s always a bit risky, but management has made a lot of good hires, the team dynamic is solid and everyone is very positive and motivated.”

Lizzie Deignan stated that returning to competition will be more complex: “It’s just harder than ever, which is great. Everyone is pushing boundaries and performance levels are getting stronger, especially in women’s cycling. The investment and changes we’ve seen mean that in the peloton the level of performance runs deeper”.
