On his return, Irving explained how important the match was, “it was good to come back. I missed my teammates, I missed the coaching staff… It felt good to get this game out of the way. Now we can move on with the rest of the season.”
Asked about his suspension, the star said it was a learning journey “there was a lot of pain that needed to be healed, a lot of conversations that needed to be had. And a lot of reflection. And I got a chance to do that with some great people from the Jewish community, the black community, the white community. I am a man who defends peace. I do not tolerate any hate speech or prejudice….”.
The Brooklyn Nets player’s post generated criticism from the media, fans, partner teams and sponsors. After the pressure, Kyrie Irving apologized for sharing and for not having had the dimension of her voice on the networks and in addition, together with her team, they donated about US$ 500,000 to the Anti-Defamation League, a group that is dedicated to to combating anti-Semitism.
