Agence France-Presse reported that for the competition to take place, it is necessary for the organization to pay, still in January, around 16,000 thousand euros to the Ligue Nationale de Cyclisme and to present “a schedule validated and endorsed by the police and gendarmerie for the payment of the amounts due for years 2021 and 2022 up to 139,996.83 thousand euros”.

As a justification, the organization of the Tour de La Provence reported that the other events had made them spend a lot of money. The case has since been taken to the National Olympic and Sport Committee of France and the French Cycling Federation.
