“These changes, which will serve to widen the gap between the points earned in the most prestigious races and those in the lower categories, aim to encourage teams to enter their best drivers in the most important races, and, to guarantee a better correlation between the points awarded and the sporting achievement involved,” the UCI said in a statement.

It is worth remembering that the changes will only apply to men’s professional road cycling that has a three-year season. In December, the UCI reported that, with the revaluation, the companies Lotto-Soudal and Israel-Premier Tech had suffered a downgrade in their positions.
