During a chat with British Cycling, Matt Windle, vice-president of Lotus Engineering, informed that he intends to launch a new bicycle model based on those used by athletes at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The new product will be carried out in partnership with Renishaw, renowned for being one of the most efficient engineering companies in the world.

The model is still being regulated according to UCI regulations and what is known so far is that it will have a reduction in “drag” compared to the previous version Lotus x Hope HB.T. and that it will be different with its design, benefiting from the wind tunnel that the governing body has at its base in Manchester.

“This, combined with our in-house team, who are constantly working to find the most innovative solutions, such as optimizing drivers’ race positions in our newly opened wind tunnel, gives our drivers the best possible chance when they reach the starting line,” said Stephen Park, Team Cycling Great Britain’s director of performance.

Matt Windle, vice president of Lotus, commented on the investment: “To be involved in the development of a high-performance machine and to have drivers win so many medals in an elite global sporting scene like the Olympics is fantastic”.
