Egan Bernal pulls out of Vuelta a Catalunya race due to stage 6 crash

It is the second competition that the cyclist leaves for complaining of pain

Last Saturday (25), during the “Vuelta a Catalunya”, Egan Bernal suffered an accident when he crossed paths with two more athletes near the end of stage 6. The cyclist tried to continue in the competition, but after a while, the Ineos Grenadiers team informed through social networks that the Colombian would withdraw from the event as a precaution.

“Update: Egan Bernal was taken to a local hospital after leaving stage 6 of the Volta a Catalunya, where footage showed no signs of fractures. In the coming days, a more in-depth medical evaluation and treatment of the skin abrasions he suffered will continue,” the team said.

The next competition that the Colombian has on his calendar will be the Tour de Bilbao, which takes place in early July, in Spain. Recently, before taking part in the “Vuelta a Catalunya”, Egan Bernal informed that one of the main objectives of this year is the Tour de France, “it is the most important race in the world and it has been my objective since the beginning of the year. Time will tell if I’m ready. If I’m not good, it’s better if I’m not”.
