Until then, the athlete had informed that his next goal was to compete in the Championnats d’Europe des Grimpeurs, which would take place next Sunday (30), in Switzerland. The cyclist’s decision involves the Clásica San Sebastián competition, which would also take place next weekend. In the face of the repercussions of his announcement, UAE Team Emirates stated that the team’s schedule will not be affected and stated that Tadej Pogocar will return in time to face Jonas Vingegaard, in the Vuelta a Espana.

“After the Tour we decided it was best to take a break, so unfortunately I won’t be able to make it this time. After some time off, I’ll see where my next races will be, but the focus now is on rest. I wish Felix the best of luck, after his performance at the Tour de France I think he will be a big favorite for the title. I will be rooting for him”, said the cyclist.

Throughout 2023, Tadej Pogocar has shown excellent performance during competitions held before the Tour de France. Only in this first semester, the cyclist managed to win countless disputes, such as Amstel Gold Race, Flash Wallone, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Nice.

Previously, during the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, held in Belgium, Tadej Pogocar suffered a collision, followed by a fall with the athlete Mikkel Honore, from Denmark, which led the cyclist to multiple fractures, undergoing several surgeries on the scaphoid, bones that are part of the fish.
