Last Tuesday (15), through social and official networks, Soudal-QuickStep announced that Mikel Landa signed a new two-year contract with the team for next year. The agreement will be used as a force to further boost the performance of the athletes and, mainly, Remco Evenepoel, who will be their partner.

“I am happy and motivated by this new challenge and to support Remco in its objectives. I come here with a lot of experience, especially in the Grand Tours, where I fought for the podium or helped others to win several times in the past. I’ve always felt comfortable supporting younger riders and I know I’ll fit in here,” Mikel Landa said in a statement.

Over the course of his career, in 13 seasons, the cyclist has passed through the Sky, Movistar, Astana Qazaqstan, Euskaltel and Bahrain Victorious teams, in addition to having won and first place in the Giro D’Italia in 2015 and 2022, and finished twice in fourth place in the Tour de France.
Patrick Lefevere, manager of Soudal-QuickStep, praised Mikel Landa and assured that the new acquisition will be important for the team: “We have known Mikel for a long time, he has been a constant presence in front of tough climbs in the Grand Tour since he turned professional for many years and we believe he is the right man to strengthen our team as we gradually change our position.”
The disclosure of the new signing came during the rumors and speculation that Remco Evenepoel could leave Soudal-QuickStep. The rumors became more frequent after the athlete’s father gave an interview stating that the future of the Belgian in the team could change.
