Athlete is banned for committing doping

According to a report released by the Dutch television channel, NOS, last Sunday (27), Michael Hessmann is being investigated by German authorities after being accused of having committed doping, due to a substance of a diuretic having been found in one of your exams.

The report states that the cyclist informed the vehicle that his home had been invaded by police on August 16: “Shortly afterwards, we published what we know about the matter in X. So we are waiting for the result, neither the judiciary nor the German anti-doping authorities have told us for information or questions”.

During the period in which the search and seizure took place, the German authorities did not find any substance or medicine that could link Michael Hessmann to the practice of doping. However, the police obtained data storage devices such as computers and cell phones.

Contacted by the reporting team, the police and German authorities stated that: “Whether this will lead to a criminal prosecution is still open and depends on the results of the investigation. The suspect will be heard before a final judgment. It is up to him to prove his innocence.”

Michael Hessmann will have the opportunity to appeal the measure when the investigation is finalized. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, if the cyclist cannot explain why the substance was found in the tests, he could be punished for four years.
