The championship was supported by the São Sebastião City Council and comprised four days of exciting heats, perfect lefts and an audience of almost three thousand people.
Gouveia beat Heitor Mueller from Santa Catarina, but with a small points advantage: 14 to 13.83. Rodrigo Saldanha and Ryan Kainalo were eliminated from the semi-finals.

“I think it’s the first time I’ve won an event with my whole family together, so it’s very gratifying and special. The championship was incredible, there were great waves all week and I’m very happy with the victory, because I needed it to regain confidence in my surfing”, said Ian.
Meanwhile, in the women’s stage, which took place for the first time in Maresias – Peruvian surfer Arena Vargas beat Argentine Vera Jarisz in a foreign final. The score was 7.77 to 6.30.
Sister of Gabriel Medina, Sophia was defeated by Peruvian Melanie Giunta in the quarterfinals, which were also held this Sunday (17).
